May 2006, Yu Hong took part in the Long March Yan¡¯an Project ¡°Site Visit.¡± In December, Yu Hong
revisited Yan¡¯an for research and created this Long March Yan¡¯an work ¡°She ¨C Girls of Baota Mountain.¡±
The work is a continuation of her ¡°She¡± series which is sincere look at the lives of women and female
identity. At the same time, the works bring in the close relationship between the women and their social
and historical environments. By taking a detailed look at real life and real people, Yu Hong provides a
new dimension for realism in contemporary art.
