Archaeology of the Future - The Second Triennial of Chinese Art

Following the first Guangzhou Triennial in September 2002, the second triennial of Chinese art will be held in May 2005 in Nanjing. The triennial is centered on the theme of "Archaeology of the Future," which will "focus on the new artistic practices carried out by young artists, and on their approach to Chinese experimental art" in medium spanning painting, video, computer art, installation, performance, and experimentations going beyond the form of medium itself. Through the use of concepts such as "overdraft," "transgenic," "memory loss," and "diary of the future," young artists who have recently garnered attention internationally, as well as many new talents, will explore the interventions and reflections of youth Chinese in response to the rapidly changing social context and the physical and psychological displacements engendered by this new "post-modern life," technical and physical pleasures, and the new cultural identity.

The exhibition is organized by the Nanjing's Red Classic Art Gallery and the Yangzi Evening Paper, and is curated by the team of Qiu Zhijie, Zuo Jing, and Zhu Tong. For more information, please contact the office of "The Second Triennial of Chinese Art" at:
