The Long March Space-Independent project 15
A Long March Project : Avant-Garde

The Long March Project was invited to take part in ※China Time 2006§, a cultural festival organized by Kampnagel-Internationale Kulturfabrik (Hamburg 每 Germany). A portion of the project was a two day workshop in which, Lu Jie and Qiu Zhijie introduced the history, events, works, and methodology of the Long March Project to an international committee of ※Long Marchers.§ A discussion regarding avant-garde, performance, and site was held, exploring issues of history, politics, and relationship between individual and collective. The result was a proposal for two site specific works, ※Avant-garde§ and ※Homage to Performance Art (Farewell to the Avant-Garde).§
This exhibition presents a series of three video works documenting the performances and workshops.
