The Second Annual 25000 Best Exhibition of the
Year Award Selection Process has Begun
The second installment of the 25000 Best Exhibition of the Year Award is underway.
The award is organized by the Long March Space in Beijing, and co-organized by Biz
Art, Asia Art Archive, and ¡°Hi Shehui¡± ¨C an online contemporary art forum. Created
in 2006 to establish an interactive platform for exchange and debate between
artists and curators, the 25000 Award is a process that allows artists and art lovers
to participate in the summarization and evaluation of the art exhibitions to take
place in Mainland China the previous annum.
The selection process of the ¡°25000 Award¡± strives to be a transparent, democratic
and open process. It will examine different angles of an exhibition, including
curating, quality of works, institution and organizers, thematic concerns, commercial
and academic possibilities, encouraging the dialogue between different ideas and
perspectives in a open and lively platform. Upon the completion of the selection
process, all materials and archives collected are contributed to the Asia Art Archive,
forming a comprehensive file of the exhibitions in Mainland China for 2007.
The 25000 Award committee has already collected materials and list of over 1000
exhibitions that occurred in Mainland China in 2007 and selected from them a
preliminary list which will be provided to artists and posted online at Hi Shehui
online art forum (www.hishehui.com). Artists and friends are invited to take part
in this selection process. A final selection of ¡°artist selections¡± and ¡°public opinion
polls¡± will be announced at the end of February.
